3D Max Environment/Landscape Textures

In todays lesson we have been taught the fundamentals of environments, starting with landscapes and applying textures created in Photoshop. We started in Photoshop making sure the page was 512 x 512 as it is important for it to be square inorder for it to work right in Max. With various Paint Brushes and Noise effects I was able to create realistic grass and snow like textures that when put onto a plane in Max it looks like mountain with snow on the top and grass running through the valley. In 3D Max we created a plane and applied the texture we made in Photoshop. Once the texture was applied to the plane, it was a simple procedure to then click on Modifier and select the displacement modifier which then allows you to increase the strenght of the textured plane. In which in case meant the mountain could be risen to the desired height and angle. To give my textured mountain a more atmospheric look I then added a background which I saved from the internet that has a dramatic skyline with light blue clouds which I feel works well against my Valley and Mountains.
